The States of Western & Central India - Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra except for Madhya Pradesh are located by the Western Coast that run along the Arabian Sea has special relevance with reference to the Indian economy. The Western states are the most affluent region of the India, in respect to living standard, infrastructure and education.

The region contains the Mumbai, the business capital of India and numerous ports on the coast of Maharashtra and Gujarat from where the majority of export is done. The region arid to semi arid is suitable for the cash crops like cotton and sugarcane that promoted the states to top position in Textile and Sugarcane production in India.

The “Western Indiastat e-Yearbook – 2012” contains the region and state level statistical data under various socio-economic parameters. The statistical data for the western states of India are presented under various parameters commencing from the year 2000 till the latest available year. The successive pages will show the section and sub-section wise list of headings of data tables. Due to the voluminous nature of data, this book contains only the listing of data table headings for which the data has been provided. While the data against the listing of data tables is shown in PDF format only and are being presented in a CD pasted at the back inside cover of this book. Chapters showing sample data tables and how to install CD are also given for the users’ reference.
